Well the season comes to a close, with a high quality game on a very green wicket at Heath Park…............... um no I mean pontcanna................, no I don’t I am mean llandaff. Anyway, it doesn’t matter where we play, we always entertain the many hundreds of fans who come week in, week out to support us…………. I must have forgotten to send out the tickets for this one then!!!!! After finding the wicket, picking out some weeds and moving the plastic bottles, we were off. Titch and Sledge opened the batting and were in minus figures very early on, the pressure got to Sledge in particular. It was the best I have seen titch bat all year (or do I mean it was the only time I have seen titch bat all year)...well whatever. I think they got 17 after 6 over’s. The next victims were the Ginger monster and Mal, the ginger monster was up for this one with the chance of winning something and if he could put one over his team mates, that’s what I like to see team sprit…… My memory is going cos all I can remember was Mike being out of breath and Mal hitting the ball…sorry lads…I think they got 30ish runs The next Giraffe and Geoff (a new member to join our elite squad for next year)…my recruitment drive has worked!!!. Geoff played all the shots and the giraffe was out many times!!!…I think the giraffe lost the plot when he hit himself in the head with his bat and then in the same motion hit the ball onto his head…..anyway his got a nice seam mark on the side of his head to go with the lump on his forehead….hope the important meeting went well today. Oh yes..They got about 40ish runs…. The next pair was Inzi/David Gower/Sumo/Old Git/…there’s many more …..and Imran. I have never seen Imran so competitive, can’t remember him hitting the ball on the on side…he did edge the ball once or twice onto the on side but for no runs. Gower played some classical drives he didn’t hit the ball but he played some classical drives!!!!!. With Imran, mathematics is not one of his strongest subjects, their score rocketed to a dodgy 70+, no cheating was going on……… They was a lot of sledging usually by Gower which put the bowlers off and what I can remember they weren’t out once….well done lads…can’t u guys play like that in a proper match!!!!! With the light fading, the next pair was the quick runners between the wicket Dave/Skipper/Mog and Gwyn ‘the Gazelle'. Gazelle told me before we went in that his been working on his fitness and it showed, we managed to turn certain three’s into one’s in a blink of eye….. We showed some resistance to bowling attack and sledging for sometime until the Gazelle cracked being run out, bowled x3 (x2 off his legs), caught, and best of them all must have been when he went to play huge shot…(he did tell me he wanted to put the ball in the tennis courts), the shot was played, the ball landing……………………………...................................................................... …………….in the wicket keepers gloves and the Gazelle still spinning around like a ballet dancer, slipped and landed onto of his stumps, it was a sight to be seen…… Gwyn you have only got the following Ways of getting out 1.1 Law 2.9(b) : Retired 1.2 Law 30 : Bowled - Done 1.3 Law 31 : Timed out 1.4 Law 32 : Caught - Done 1.5 Law 33 : Handled the ball 1.6 Law 34 : Hit the ball twice 1.7 Law 35 : Hit wicket - Done 1.8 Law 36 : Leg before wicket (LBW) 1.9 Law 37 : Obstructing the field 1.10 Law 38 : Run out - Done 1.11 Law 39 : Stumped I do think we should have t-shirts if your out in the following ways Time Out, Handled the ball, Hit the ball twice, Hit wicket, Obstructing the field……. I’ll arrange the t-shirts…. Plus the duck hat, which will be given to the player with the highest amount of ducks in one season and that player has to wear the hat at every game in the following season…..similar for dropping the ball…….. I’ll get the score book off rob to work that one out!!!!!! Anyway, back to game, Imran’s team won…..again they have been cleared of cheating by the ICC. Thanks for coming and I look forward to seeing you all at the indoor games, indoor nets and the matches in season 2007. Signing off…your mentor and captain Mog……. |
