Andrew Grills Profile
Name: Andrew Grills
Nickname: Bear
Date of birth: 15 April 1969
Position in Team: Where ever I’m told
Best Batting performance: 16 (Wenvoe v Sully Spartans)
Best Bowling performance: 2 for 7 off 1 over (If you get two minutes
ask the D.O.C. why it wasn't a hat-trick)
Previous Clubs: There are no other clubs, only opposition.
Player you most admire (First Class): Mark Ramprakash (nearly as old
as me and nearly as good a dancer, does also play cricket quite well.
Unfortunately that’s where the similarity ends)
Player you most admire (Local): Rhys Dart, the partnership of 22 (of
which I scored a massive 2) in my fourth or fifth game convinced me
that cricket was the way forward. And he is nearly as competitive as I
am. A sad loss for the CBB’s (he’s not dead, just married)
Most memorable moment (Playing): Second game for the CBB’s,
Llanrumney, pouring rain, took my first catch (long on) and we won.
(very closely followed by having my caricature done by our very own
Jack Russell)
Most memorable moment (Other): Everything else is a bit hazy to be honest.
Most Embarrassing Moment: Oh come on!
Best Ground: Blackwier (where I got my hat-trick, D.O.C.)
Worst Ground: Blackwier (where I didn’t get my hat-trick, D.O.C.)
Best tour (Why): Abbergavenny (wine, women and song, a merry old time
had by all. Or at least that’s what I’m told. Don’t remember a thing
myself).
Favourite Drink: Not sure. Don’t really drink a lot.
Ambition: To regain club-man of the year (now that you all know me).
Music you’d most like to walk out to bat to: “Stuck in the middle with
you” – Stealers Wheel (I am so old)
Favourite biscuit: Digestive
Favourite punctuation: (the bracket)
