Richard Thomas Profile
Name: Richard Thomas
Nickname: Tich
Date of birth: a long time ago in the middle of the last Century
Position in Team: played in every position from 1 to 11 now usually 12th Man
Best Batting performance: 29ish at BP Plastics Sully - years ago
Best Bowling performance: something like 3 for 4 or 4 for 3 also unsurprisingly years ago
Previous Clubs: One Club player man boy and OAP
Player you most Admire (First Class): Alan Lamb not because he's a great player although not bad in his time, but because I was in The Beverley in Cathedral Road one summers night, a group of guys walked in and in that unmistakable South African twang he ordered drinks for the rest of the Northants team - What a captain. or Ian Botham just up the road in The Halfway but that's more of a rugby than cricket story
Player you most admire (Local): Simon Starr The luckiest bowler I've ever played with, a fine captain and the only person who I've ever seen order a Kaliber shandy.
Most memorable moment (Playing): Winning the double 1995 - Yes we did win trophies once (or should that be twice!!!!!!!!). Funny thing is as players we were only ever presented with one medal.
Most memorable moment (Other): Winning the award for "The Wrong Height in the Wrong Place at the Wrong time" 1989 Everybody won an award that year. Obviously my batting and bowling wasn't up to much.
Best tour (Why): Still waiting
Ambition: To wake up each morning - things can't get any better than that
Music you’d most like to walk out to bat to: I'm still Standing by Elton John - it's an OK song but more importantly it complements my ambition
Favourite Biscuit: anything with chocolate
